As the head of a company for many years, the idea of embarking on a doctorate may seem audacious, even surprising. After fifteen years at the helm of Althéo, the need arose to take a step back, to detach oneself from the operational side of the business, to confront academic theories and concepts, and thus enrich one's professional practice. This intellectual aspiration, comparable to a climb of the 4,000, becomes a personal challenge. What's more, the departure of a child for a year of study abroad can be the ideal trigger to fill the gap with a major project.
The Ascension Experience
During this journey, you'll discover how knowledge is created. A deep immersion in academic literature, theories and concepts enriches every step of this ascent. High-quality seminars and regular meetings with the thesis supervisor structure and organize this journey. The Business Science Institute offers a reassuring, well-marked setting, comparable to the bivouacs and refreshment points on a mountain climb. Although the quest is a solitary one, the constant support and reference points provided by the Institute are essential for staying on course.
Objectives and results
The objectives set in undertaking this PhD are multiple: to enhance professional experience, to differentiate oneself in a competitive ecosystem, and to benefit from the prestige associated with a DBA. The results have lived up to these ambitions. Not only has the project been successfully completed, but the adventure continues beyond the completion of the thesis. Since the end of the PhD, several articles have been published, interviews conducted, conferences given, and collaboration with the thesis director on new projects is underway. In addition, a tool for investment funds has been developed, based on the research work.
A Bridge Between Two Universes
One of the most gratifying achievements of this experience is the role of bridge-builder between the professional and academic worlds, which are still too often compartmentalized. Today, the ability to navigate and facilitate exchanges between these two spheres has grown considerably, enriching interactions and mutual understanding.
